Can Social media be positively addictive?

Too many questions running through my mind but this one tops the list!

If you are like me..coming from an era where decades ago, communication was mostly done by phone calls,texts..even physical visits..then u'll understand why some of us didn't quite embrace it so quickly or with as much excitement as some others do!*sighs*

Don't get me wrong...Actually years ago,I guess I was one of the few who jumped on signing up for facebook and twitter when they started and  I enjoyed the fact that it was a new way of catching up on old  friends and celebrities who I would never have had the opportunity to see or chat with in decades to come!
But then..years after..some others came up like..Flickr,Snapchat etc and am wondering..hmmm??
Now this is the part that paused my steps a bit...
I check them out and am like..so why exactly do I need to sign up for these new ones?
What's so different about their features?I already have a facebook and twitter account so what's the point??

Welll..I know they are free..but guess what?
If one's not careful,they can become addictive!Yesss!!
Trust me..am talking from experience!
When I first signed up back then..every morning..before anything else..am logging on..posting something...checking out people's status or update...infact ,doing this for hours which seemed like minutes!

I was happy doing it like I was being paid!LOL!
But of cos..years later,I realised it became an addiction and that's where I had to draw the line!
The truth is...we have to be responsible for our own influences..positive or negative!
You should do things that inspire you not drain you for free!*smh*

So coming back to my question...can it be a positive addiction??
Definitely!Buuut..the level of addiction is a personal choice!
There's good addiction and there's definitely bad addiction!
The same way u drop your fork after a plate of food and say you're done should be the same way u can put your phone/laptop down and say"Enough of this for now!I have other important stuff I need to do!"
It should be a pastime..something you can do maybe when you're bored or taking a break..but definitely not something to take up hours of your productive day...well..unless you are a blogger..social media publicist or basically being paid to be online chatting/surfing!!

And soooo after all's being said,I signed up for Instagram a few days ago as my new pastime*smiles*
Not just for looking at beautiful people or uploading pics of myself..LOL!
Wellll..better late than never*wink*
But seriously though..I gave it a long thought and signed up because after checking it out,I realised there were a whole lotta inspiring people to follow,share pics with and even learn from...Writers,Singers...Actors..Photographers..Make-up artists,etc!
My intention is to give my brain something more...something to be inspired by...something to think about...to make me achieve more!!
At the end of the day...it's a personal choice..so why don't you seek out people who are motivating,encouraging and can positively influence you somehow?

The truth is...you are the summary of everything you consume so just make sure it's gonna be things that positively influence your mentality and lifestyle!

Tribute to Womanhood!

My darling mum,best friend&mentor sent this to me this morning and by the time I was done reading I knew there was no way I could keep this to myself!!

Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed." She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning. She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her bag.

Mum then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth. Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my way," she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals. About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought. Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer...? 'CAUSE THEY ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL........ (and they can't die sooner, they still have things to do!!!!)

Celebrating LOVE..!

Ok Wellll..take your pick!LOL!

So it's finally here!!
All the crazy queues at stores selling out red colored clothes,shoes,bags,hats and even handkerchiefs as gifts with increased prices on them like it was going outta fashion!!!

Bad enough that there's normally mad traffic on Saturdays but then yesterday couldn't have been the usual "mad" traffic...thanks to all ye lovers!!! Rushing to buy gifts like y'all dint know all this while today was Val's day!*sticking my tongue out at you*
Or wait a minute...maybe the majority of shoppers were even the ones who had a last minute change of mind??
Wondering whether to bother buying their loved one a gift...maybe even those who broke up during the week and made up yesterday??LOL!!!
Gooosh..I just can't stop laughing at these crazy thoughts tho!!
But you know you really have to excuse my thoughts cos it's a beautiful day anyways as far am concerned!
Why wouldn't you wanna celebrate love whichever way?
Even if you don't have someone to love..or Noone in particular loves you that much to celebrate today with you...pleaaaaase take a good look at yourself!!
If Noone loves you today,God loves you and that's paramount if you ask me!!

His love is unconditional,pure and undying and what better day to celebrate him soooo much than today..Sunday!!!!
Soooo this brings me to the point once again where I wish you a happy,wonderful and blessed Valentine's day!!

Amusing Thots In This Season of Love..

Whilst love fills the air,I will grab the opportunity once again to pen down my thoughts and share them in this wonderful season of love!
Valentine's day which has been celebrated on the 14th(for as long as I know).. is in a coupla days!
For those celebrating,I can hear all the Yaaaaaays...Yipeeeees..Can't wait..bla bla!
Well for those who dont believe in Valentine's day or think it's a myth and will celebrate this Sunday like every other Sunday..Welllll it's all good*wink*
Anyways in my moments of hidden excitement(I dunno why am excited when it's not my birthday)..it just struck me that a lotta couples will just do the same ol' thing which of cos could be getting a card...then rushing to any store to buy any red colored gift the attendant recommends *sighs*
It really doesn't have to be that way all the time...no matter how busy you are!
Think about it for a minute...it's gonna be a Sunday this year so that makes it quite different this time(especially for those using the office/business as an excuse not to celebrate *rolling my eyes*).

So no excuses...celebrate it differently this time*wink*

Infact this season is so amusing to me cos it's not just about that Valentine's day but even the Pre-Val's day! It's during this period(the week or days before Val's day)that a guy who used to shower his girl with loads of gifts to celebrate Val's day, suddenly starts saying he doesn't believe in it anymore&infact he hates all the noise made about it!
Truly,I know a few peeps who genuinely don't believe in it but the ones that start claiming it's a myth..years after..when they suddenly realise the financial burden that comes with the celebration, are just the biggest of clowns!*smh*
Well..if you decide to stop believing in/celebrating Val's day with your girl,make sure you are on the same page of belief with her..especially if you wanna be with her after Val's day!

Another amusing one is the girl that has a few guys on the Val's day list but not quite sure which one to spend time with/which one will give her the best gift! Imagine the headache/stress she has to go through to make that tough decision..even deciding on what gifts to buy!*smh*
I always remember a few years back when I was shopping at a store,some days before Val's day.
I was walking past the Men's section when I heard a girl shopping for her man with her friends. She was in the Men's underwear section checking out which set of boxers and tops will suit her man.
While lifting up different sets with her,her friends asked her what she was expecting from him or what would she have liked as a gift?
She laughed..saying that even though she wasn't precise with him about a Val's day gift but she had been hinting she needed a new car so who knows?Maybe he might surprise her with that!
At that point,I just had to quickly walk away!!
Waaaaat!!!Is it me who didn't hear her right??Hold up!
You are buying your man a pair of underwears but hoping for a new ride??? Hmmmmm....it's either I'm from another planet...or ...*smh*
I just couldn't stop laughing in my head and shaking my head of cos..so every time Val's day comes up ,I always remember that day somehow!
As for the sharp guys...or the ones tryna be smart..who will now be looking for any and everything to cause a misunderstanding with their girl before that day...LOL!!
Am laughing so hard right now cos I will share a few that I managed to see last week..all in the name of Valentine's day!LOL!!

So for now..Am gonna sit back ...stay amused for the next coupla days..!!

5 Tips on Honest Friendship!

At some point in our lives,we have had squabbles with friends who we thought were mean..insensitive or even jealous just because of their honesty towards us.
It's easy to be misconstrued when one is honest because a lotta times,we like to hear only what we wanna hear!
Am quite guilty of this though*sighs*

This post came to mind because I ran into a friend today at a shop and we were quite close years ago but the friendship changed after an eventful argument we had!
I gave my opinion to something she wanted to know about and she misconstrued it as me being mean/jealous!*now that's funny thinking about it now*

Anyways ..coming back to the post..so I just wanna quickly share this so you don't lose a friend out of fear of the truth or misjudgment!

1)If u want a true friend,be ready to embrace all tenets of friendship otherwise u will have a fake friendship expecting your friend to always be a sycophant or your puppet!

2)True friendship means telling the truth so don't be afraid to do that!You shouldn't be afraid to admit when you don't like something...just be sure to put it nicely in the best possible way,rather than lie/be passive!

3)When you filter your conversations,being scared about saying a particular thing,that's not being 100%honest and that's definitely not true friendship!(Read No.2 again)

4)Your moral standards says a lot about your personality and definitely has a say in your friendship!
If your friend knows that you know your right clearly from wrong,there's bound to be some level of respect that will be attached to whatever opinion/advice you have to give!

5)Whether you like it or not,the law of reciprocation is paramount in friendship!
If you wanna say things as they truly are to your friend,be ready to hear the truth someday too!

When that day comes,Don't get angry/hurt,just remember that friendship builds and there would always be arguments but the misunderstandings should lead to meaningful results..and of cos a stronger friendship bond!

Hello February..

Happy New Month peeps!!
Welcome to the month of Love!(I know every month is..but am just hinting something at couples*wink*)
Yes we have come to the 2nd month of this beautiful year already!
Pls allow me say once again.."How time flies!!"

So how did you fare in January?
Were you able to accomplish something outta your new year goals?
Or even if not completed,were you able to even take a step towards it?
Welll..Am not here to beat you up bout it..ok?
But am definitely here as your reminder to get that ball rolling!*smiles*
I am also taking each step as I possibly can towards achieving some set goals for the year..so not to worry...I am walking and holding your hand!

This month is also kinda more exciting because of a certain celebration precisely on the 14th!

Not everyone celebrates this though and infact for some of us,we don't wait for that day to celebrate love..but love any day we can..in any possible way we can too*wink*
But don't get it twisted,I will celebrate it welllaaa...LOL!!(hopefully*keeping my fingers crossed*) but am just also speaking for those who feel it's overrated and of cos,it's used by people for different amusing reasons..instead of the LOVE that should be celebrated that day*sighs*

Infact I don't wanna talk too much on this today cos I just wanted to embrace a new month with you!
